Poverty alleviation programmes aim to reduce the rate of poverty in the country by providing proper access to food, monetary help, and basic essentials to households and families belonging to the ‘below-the-poverty’ line. Poverty increases the risk of HIV/AIDS when it propels the unemployed into unskilled migratory labour pools in search of temporary and seasonal work, which increases their risk of HIV/AIDS. Poverty also drives girls and women to exchange sex for food and to resort to sex work for survival. Life Relief Foundation introduce INCOME Generation activities in 2010 as a result of large numbers of healthy PLHIV not working.

We strive to meet the needs of HIV-infected and affected people including orphans in their homes with their families, and and communities if possible. We take time to assess community needs and capacity, analyse strategic, operational and management issues related to integration, and understand the importance of policy contexts in planning appropriate services that will be accepted and used. Therefore there is an urgent need to address how communities can effectively prevent and manage HIV & AIDS to mitigate a wide range of health and it's socio-economic impacts.

Life Relief Foundation ensures that protection in emergencies should be carried out in a way that makes children more secure, facilitate children’s and families’ own efforts to stay safe and reduce children’s exposure to risks. LRF also ensures equal treatment for everyone, without being preferential. Favouritism has to be avoided at all costs; aid has to be given to everyone, starting with those who need it the most, such as women, girls and boys, and children with disabilities.

HIV infection presents a major life transition that is out of sequence with what is expected. Persons living with HIV/AIDS, families and communities need information, resources and services to face the challenges of the illness and meet the needs that arise with it. Life Relief Foundation provides care and support in greater community involvements, thus, reducing stigma and discrimination that will result in a positive attitude and support environment for PLHIV. The concept of community-based home care and support services initiated by the Life Relief Foundation can go a long way to alleviate the pain and suffering of terminally ill patients to enable them to die a death of dignity.
