Life Relief Foundation (LRF) participated in a Condom Activation Campaign and Quiz competition
organized by Ghana Health Service in collaboration with Ghana AIDS Commission Technical Support
Unit and JSI at Takoradi Technical University (TTU).
Dr. Felicia Amihere, the Western Regional HIV Coordinator, graced the occasion and was supported
by Dr. Appiah of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital. Madam Effie Josiah also supported the team
as a panellist in the World AIDS Day Condom Activation and Quiz competition.
Two persons from each hall were elected as contestants to participate in the Quiz competition
with the winner receiving two tabletop fridges, the second receiving two rice cookers, the third
receiving two electric cookers and the remaining contestants receiving electric irons. The
first, second and third also received plaques sponsored by JSI.
As part of efforts to enhance technical and managerial capacity in implementing FSW-focused interventions with the Care Continuum, LRF key project staff undertook a training session with a professor who is an Educational Technology Manager at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio, USA. The training session with him took place during his visit to Ghana on an advocacy for the use of Google drive and Google docs. The one day training really equipped staff with requisite knowledge and capacities to improve work outcomes.
Hospitals to form Viral Load Tracking Response Teams. The team comprises of the ART nurse, data manager, pharmacist, lab technician, Health Information Officer and other key staff. Also, the use of a Viral Load Calendar Alert System and VL Color stickers has also been an innovative strategy to support viral load testing for PLHIV. It is expected that at the end of this intervention, viral load testing will become an essential component of ART treatment.
